The all-new 2024 CLE coupe arrived recently and we need to know if it is more C or more E! Having owned both a C-Class cabriolet and an E-Class cabriolet, I had to drive it to decide. The full length video is a test drive for me and my first experience on a long drive in the car.
My first move, last week, was to park it with the outgoing C and E to visually see the differences between the three models. I posted a video of that as well. I think seeing them all together helps to place it in the line-up and confirm the size and looks. Reading the specs does not help me at all!
It is an average of the two! It is as big as an E-Class coupe was, but has an interior more closely aligned with the current C-Class sedan. It has a smoother suspension than the old C-Class, but not quite the plushness of the outgoing E-Class. The technology is a huge upgrade from the previous coupes but is not similar to the all-new E-Class that just arrived.
Shrinking the coupe/cabriolet offering from 3 (C-Class, E-Class, and S-Class) is a lot to take in a short period of time but is not uncommon for Mercedes. The CLK was the only option back in the day.
There is a lot to like and I am hoping that I love the cabriolet when it arrives soon!
